When you picture your perfect wedding, do you see yourself surrounded by greenery? Are your photos filled with sunshine and bright blue mountain skies? You can make your wedding dreams come true by booking a versatile outdoor event venue here in Asheville.

We’ve created this guide to help you book the ideal date and setting for your all-natural outdoor wedding. Here’s how Weaver House brides keep things timeless, sustainable, and stunning all year long.

What Season Is Best for an Outdoor Wedding in Asheville?

The most popular times of year for outdoor weddings in Asheville are early summer and late fall. Once you look at the average temperatures, you’ll understand why!

In May and June, mid-day temperatures are around 75° to 80° Fahrenheit. In October, you’ll see daytime temperatures around 68°, which is a comfortable sitting temperature for outdoor celebrations. Avoid late summer or early autumn, as you’re more likely to encounter rain, wind, and even the occasional hurricane.

With that said, Asheville weather can be unpredictable, and we always recommend making a rain plan. It’s better to have one and not need it than to need one and not have it! Look into Asheville event venues with both indoor and outdoor spaces, so you can move things inside if necessary.

It’s always wise to keep a basket of ponchos or umbrellas on hand in case of a quick passing shower. You might also consider renting a tent to provide cover in case of an unexpected sprinkle.

Things can get humid in the warmer months, especially for out-of-town guests from dryer climates. We’ve seen clever brides turn paper fans into wedding programs to keep guests comfortable in a sustainable way!

How Do I Feed Guests at an Outdoor Venue?

It may be tempting to hold your wedding at a park or public space, but this can pose problems at mealtime. Most experts advise that you choose a venue with an indoor kitchen facility. It’s the best way to ensure hot food, efficient service, and keep bugs and other pests at bay. A spacious, covered catering kitchen will further ensure your meal is safe, sanitary, and scrumptious.

Bring the Indoors Outdoors

One of our favorite ways to make an outdoor event venue more inviting is to add cozy, inviting elements. We love setting up couches in the Japanese gardens at Weaver House. Our planners are constantly creating aesthetic tableaus set against our natural wall of jade and bamboo. Not only does it create stunning, elegant photo opportunities, but it encourages guests to settle in and chat.

We also love adding unique lighting options to our outdoor venue space. Consider a few freestanding lamps, hanging lanterns, or fairy lights. It’s a great way to keep things interesting after the sun goes down and you lose that mountain view.

Consider Your Outdoor Seating Options

The way you set up your tables also impacts the way guests interact with your outdoor venue space. You can create a community feel by setting up one long dining table and inviting your guests to break bread together. In contrast, consider setting up a series of smaller cafe-style tables that seat four to six guests. Smaller tables give your outdoor wedding an intimate feel.

Don’t write off indoor event venues with outdoor space, either. This option allows your guests to spread out and mingle. They can head inside to grab a drink at the bar, then head outdoors for a conversation in the garden. As a bonus, guests will have access to clean, private restroom facilities, which are always preferable to a portable toilet option.

Scope Out the Photo Opportunities

When it comes to serving as the backdrop for dynamic wedding photos, not all outdoor venues are equal. An open field might afford you plenty of space, but the view might be the same from all angles. Ideal photogenic venues allow for levels, natural backdrops, pops of color, and unique perspectives.

Ask About an Outdoor Ceremony Space

You can save time, money, and stress by choosing a venue with an outdoor ceremony space. Imagine saying “I do” against the backdrop of a Blue Ridge Mountain sunset or an elegant wall of flowers or greenery.

Weaver House brides love to tie the knot in our outdoor chapel! The living wall provides a verdant backdrop for emotional vows. You’ll fall in love with the ambiance of our babbling brook. Plus, the natural light makes for the most gorgeous pictures of your first kiss as a married couple!
